For those that love the fixed gear culture go represent tonight and RIDE YOUR BIKE! but be sure to check out the gear ratio chart first. It’s import to see how much your push and to understand that some ratios might be too straining to the body. Some suggest a lighter ratio for daily commuting and other don’t care and run a heavy ratio for that extra workout. for me I enjoy both light and heavy ratios since I have a double fixed hub. personal favorite ratio for climbing would be 48×16 and for flats and daily commuting its 48×14.
For those who skid be sure to see how many skid patches you have, if its low you might want to consider changing a your ratio to something with a better skid patch count. I use to go through tires like smokers go through packs of cigarettes. Keep educated people and ride on!
